There was one employee there that really went above and beyond to help me, everyone else was a bit of a dick to be honest - impatient, condescending. I don’t know - maybe they’re just too used to interacting with contractors and not someone from the general public that doesn’t know what they’re doing. Also I tripped into a 1 ft deep hole in their parking lot by the tie down station (there was a safety cone upside down IN the hole, but that didn’t exactly do any good)

Overall, a very disappointing experience. Poor customer service and the lumber supply in the showroom was of disappointing quality. My husband and I have been planning to build a table and needed lumber. We were excited to buy from a local company. The website didn't seem to have a wide selection which necessitated a phone call. My husband called and found out that they carry a much wider selection in the showroom than was listed online. He inquired about a custom order and was told they can try to source longer boards than what they traditionally carry. When we called back to actually place the order, the person he spoke to acted like it was a huge inconvenience to place the order. They indicated they would call back and never did. We came into the store today (10/12/24) to find boards that would work. The four men working seemed to be put out that we were even there. They were singing and talking to each other at the registers. After we looked at the red oak options (which were damaged and of disappointing quality) we searched the store for another 45 minutes. We were never approached by any of the four employees working. We came up to the desk to place a custom order of another wood type and the employee told us to hold on (he was finishing a text). He then looked at what we wanted to custom order and told us to look at what's on the floor because he's showing more than 200 board feet in inventory. What's the issue with accepting a custom order We then spent another 30 minutes sorting through a section of boards trying to avoid the damaged and warped ones. As we were loading the 10th and final board to our cart an employee approached us to ask if we were finding the boards we wanted. As we left I noticed one of the employees had Spotify up on his computer screen. With several customers in the store (and us being there for more than 1.5 hours), that seems highly inappropriate.

Excellent service, fair pricing. I was shopping for some smooth 4x8 siding to replace some rotted 1970's Masonite batten and board siding. Schutte's a huge place and I felt like an idiot not knowing where I was going, but everyone from the guy on the phone, to the cashier, to the loader was super helpful and polite. I wouldn't be disappointed if I found another excuse to purchase from them again!
