I would give less than one star but I have to choose a star. The star is for the teachers I did have and they would receive more but this is about the school. The wrong people are in the wrong positions there and color or racial biased should never over shadow ones ability especially when I'm the student and not the paid member to color a picture is more important because she's black and I just happen to be part of a group that can be human and humble. Never should a student advocate counselor be in a position if they have a biased opinion for color and clearly overlooked the facts. Everyone deserves an education and race shouldn't be involved, love, cultural capabilities outside and inside the community, which was the college is what it's about along with the exploration and coexistence which all walks of life including the rap 180 program, because yes I'm a felon but it doesn't mean I'm ignorant, less than ,or only have to work within that building because they have to watch us all. Never should a school or college at that be existing with such nonsense. Policing policies there are the type they use fear and threats to treat the students, along with informal suspensions, based on their suspicious minds, I'm sure due to their own guilt and whatnot. A fraud to system of education based on psychological war tactics and schemes for their own benefits and not of the students livelihood and well being. It's like a damn concentration camp but focused on the wrong things instead of uplifting and believing to help build one another. This is not all of the people there just the one's that oversee to control cause they have non outside of their home or own lives. So I hope the good teachers are able to keep thriving in an environment where they want to control and ruin the creative mind for the ruins of the world. Creativity, communication, humanitarianism, and self expression are important for a community to grow and last. So just nah on MCC until they remove bad "leaders,"

Terrible communication from the health professions staff when dealing with a time sensitive issue. And then they decided to deviate from stated dual enrollment grade policies. Stay away if possible.

They're full of self absorbed people who don't care about their students. I had to fix something on my application since it was apparently "entered" incorrectly on their side. I went to this location and 2 others, not until the last location did they say that I could've called and gotten it fixed. Absolutely ignorant and disrespectful of all other locations sending me on a wild goose chase for 4 hours!

Do not attend this school. Do not send your child to this school. The teachers do not care about teaching, only presenting material. There is no learning. Their only objective is to program you to walk in lock step with social norms. If you think different from your peers, you will be ostracized, harassed, and threatened by other students and faculty. They will not know what to do if you are a thinking person that wants to learn. You will be deceived and wrangled into a network of teachers that don’t care, unavailable classes, and impossible to reach advisers. You will be promised a degree that you will not receive in the timeline they entice you with. It will be impossible to get the classes you need to progress on the timetable you are promised. You will have to pay for classes you don’t want or need. Do not waste your time and money on this low-class school with no chance to improve yourself. The students here are desperate to get their credits to get out and go someplace else for real education, but it won’t happen. Want a career in a trade? This won’t help. Contact local unions or companies in the trade you are interested and ask about employment, training, and advancement. You’ll be better off. Do not attend this school. Do not send your child to this school.

I attended this school for almost two years, for which I am really upset about my treatment there that resulted in my decision to drop out. At first, I had a wonderful advisor, Sabrina Hughes. She was helpful and informative and she was quick to always get back to me. A while after, I was passed to a different advisor Amy Holtmeier and she was awful. She took forever to get back to me, sometimes I’d go weeks not getting a response from her and when we did talk she was always sighing and huffing over the phone. The worst of it all for me though was the TRIO student services worker Michella Blankman. I met with her once and she told me she was gonna help me apply and look into scholarships and she was gonna help me with my class schedule for next quarter. I took the summer off and attempted to reach her a few times to get my classes set up for Fall and never heard back. I was able to reach her a week after school started and was left to do my classes myself since my advisor was also nonexistent. Long story short, Michella never met with me and I was never able to meet with her as the one day I made an appointment with her, she didn’t show for work due to a migraine and nobody knew and I was left to wait for her in office for 40 minutes before being told she’s not coming in. She never reached out to me although I made multiple attempts via email and voicemail. I sent an email requesting to be removed from TRIO as I was so upset about being basically ghosted and would you believe it, she answered that email immediately and told me to reach out if I ever need anything in the future. Are you kidding?!! I had some wonderful teachers but a lot of my teachers were the same and talked way too much about politics and things I feel shouldn’t be pitted on students in a classroom setting. Look into other options before going here. It was hell to get people to respond to you and most classes are highly overpriced. Nobody has respect for others and others beliefs unless you’re part of what they believe. Teachers spend way too much time talking about themselves and don’t really teach much material. It’s just not a solid, educational experience like I thought it’d be. I hate to use this term but, I feel like it’s a brainwashing tactic. Every class felt the same, same energy, same message pushed on you and same teacher personalities.

MCC as far as the teachers I experienced were pretty great! I enjoyed the classes I took! What I didn't enjoy was anything that had to do with the administration side of things. Getting in to see a counselor, getting help with financial aide, and now I am being charged full price for a class I had to drop due to dropping it 7 days past the census date. I could understand some sort of penalty, but to be charged the full price for a class I am not taking is ridiculous. I am so glad that the last class I need for my associates I can take else where while working on my bachelors. I am so happy to be done with the rude and money hungry school this is.

I have already posted how HORRIBLY this financial aid office is run and how RITA, specifically (and among others), is completely unhelpful, rude, and incompetent. This is a follow up for anyone in need of a decent/well-run school (even though anything would be a step up). I have since transferred to Iowa Western and have had zero problems and nothing but good experiences. I already finished a Summer semester there and the financial aid process was fast and the school required no additional or unnecessary information from me. It's ridiculous how Metro's financial aid office refuses to help their students in need. I don't know if they get paid more for giving out less financial aid, but if not they are just lazy. I have been to four colleges and this is the absolute worst. I really hope you have restaffed RITA and most of the financial aid office. I could go on forever, but choose IOWA WESTERN. And FIRE RITA!!!!!!! SHE IS HORRIBLE!

While I enjoy my classes and most of my teachers are great, the financial aid department is abysmal and I can get from past reviews two or three years ago, it still hasn't changed. I called Student Accounts and spoke with an horribly rude, older woman. I hadn't received my pell grant fund yet, they tell me I don't get funds back because I barely had enough to cover for the semester, but the website specifically shows I'll be disbursed the remaining amount on the 28th, she told me that was incorrect. I asked if they could tell me what I could expect for the 1st half of my loan, because it shows 1,300$ for the fall quarter I'll be getting back and she said and VERY rudely I might add "You are barely getting any money back for your loans and we can't tell you over the phone" I was floored, she talked down to me like I was an idiot and was incredibly disrespectful, unhelpful and extremely apathetic. I'm thinking about transferring to IWCC instead because I was appalled at MCC's awful behavior in the financial aid department.
