I recently participated the Introduction to Woodworking class and absolutely loved it. Having access to high quality power tools, hand tools, and a teacher I could ask anything to helped me build confidence in my ability to continue working at home. The course refreshed my memory of things I learned as a child, taught me proper techniques in using power tools and hand tools, and I have some items I can use at home. Anyone remotely interested in woodworking would gain a lot of value from here. I can’t wait to take another class!

Took the mid century chair and ottoman class. If you have some experience with woodworking, the class will elevate your skills with focus on making complex domino joints. If you are new to woodworking, this will be a crash course covering several power and hand tools. Either way expect to put in full days and work hard, and you’ll take home a fantastic project. The instructors are knowledgeable and easy to work with. I would happily take this course again.

UPDATE: I took the MCM ottoman class and put the upholstery skills I learned in the funky footstool class to use. I used Alexander Girard fabric for Maharam. Loved this class and the teaching staff is super awesome! I am very happy with the way my ottoman turned out. This was only my second class. The instruction is amazing—obviously. Previously I wrote: Great experience! I learned so much. The teachers are just wonderful. It was my very first class and I was so proud of my MCM funky footstool. With all its little imperfections, I still think it is perfect. It looks fantastic next to my Bertoia Diamond Lounge Chair. (Only the cat can see the teeny mistakes.) I dream of taking more classes. Cannot wait to be back in Adrian!

I recommend these one- and two-day woodturning courses to anyone who thinks they may want to purchase a lathe and explore this beautiful hobby. The Sam Beaufort woodshop is well-equipped and the instructor, in my case, Matt, is friendly, instructive, and patient.

Wonderful experience!! I was lucky enough to take a guitar making class taught by Jeff and Noah. I can’t say enough good things about the both of them and how they guided the class through some very technical work. The instruction was presented in a clear and understandable manner and both instructors made sure to keep everyone moving along with their builds through encouraging words and keen advice. The most notable aspect of the class was the expectation that everyone would create a truly special piece. Jeff and Noah both had high standards of craftsmanship and effectively and thoughtfully instilled that approach in everyone in the class. If you’re on the fence about taking a class at the school get off it because the facility and instructors are top notch.

A lovely shop run by lovely people! For my first weekend there, I had a great time. Well worth looking into it whether you're a newbie to the woodworking world or an experienced hobbyist. They have classes for all skillsets! I would love to come back. :)

As a complete novice, this course helped me to understand the fundamentals of woodworking. The facility is well-equipped and spacious, and the teachers are patient and helpful. It was amazing to start the week with no idea how to shape and join planks of wood and finish with a nice-looking cherry side table with mortised joints. I am still astounded that I made it. I can heartily recommend this course for beginners. Classmates were from all over the US and formed a congenial group. I hope to attend another class as soon as possible to expand my knowledge of this amazing craft and to enjoy the comradery of classmates and the welcoming spirit of the staff.
