I was introduced to Larry at L&K Hardwoods by a couple I bought some live-edge wood from for an epoxy table I wanted to have built. They told me he was the right guy for the job—and they couldn’t have been more right. Larry is an incredible craftsman and a true artist. His attention to detail, passion for the work, and the pride he put into my project are, in my opinion, second to none. He’s also a proud veteran, and that shows in both his work ethic and integrity. He genuinely cared about my project, and it shows—I’m absolutely thrilled with how it turned out. If you’re looking for high-quality hardwood, expert craftsmanship, and someone who truly takes the time to get it right, I can’t recommend Larry and L&K Hardwoods enough. It was a pleasure working with Larry, and I’ll definitely be back for future projects.

Open house was held for members of the Kansas city Woodworkers Guild. Larry and his wife were so open and kind. They are sponsoring a toy drive for local families . Great tour of mill and historical site, beautiful property. Lots of wood to check out. Give them a call and schedule an appointment.

Larry is the best! Willing to answer all of my questions and help out a novice!! I just had a few questions and he took time over the phone to answer all of them and was gracious with his time when I visited his shop!! I need a few slabs tested for moisture and then surface and he was a huge help and a very reasonable cost!!

I had the pleasure of doing business with Larry today and WOW what an experience! He took his time with the transaction, happily showed us around his shop and his mill, and shared with us his projects and his visions. Yesterday, I took delivery of the most beautiful coffee table from Larry Smith of L&K Hardwoods. I spent a lot of time trying to find to find a replacement for a table that I had for many years but had grown tired of. There was nothing in-store or on the internet that I liked. I had something in mind that I wanted in wood. My husband told me about Larry and his live edge pieces. Although that was not what I was looking for in my living room, my husband and I met with Larry and spent about an hour and a half with him discussing all the details of what I was looking for. Larry was very helpful and easy to work with as we discussed the pros and cons of the different woods, design, etc. Although Larry gave me a timeline that was farther out, he finished my table earlier than expected. I must say the piece is just stunning. The craftsmanship is unbelievable. It is so smooth you can't tell where the pieces of wood meet and, the white oak has so much character. I highly recommend contacting L&K Hardwoods for your custom needs. My table is definitely an heirloom piece. I love it. Thank you, Larry!

Visited L&K Hardwoods for the very 1st time and I am sure this wont be the last. Amazing hospitality and wealth of knowledge are making me write this review. Add to that, a great selection of local lumber that you can spend time, feel and select. The owners are down to earth and genuine people who made sure to help the new woodworker in me select the right stuff for my projects. Larry even gave me detailed tour of their mill and educated me on the finer nuances of milling and finish carpentry. All in all an awesome experience and I will be buying from them regularly.

Larry and Cammie have a very cool operation. I recommend you call or email before going. But they are very welcoming. As of this writing, they have a limited selection of a variety of woods - based on keeping up with demand, but the pieces they have are quite stunning. The prices of lumber, so far, have been a couple bucks cheaper per board/foot than most retailers in town. This will be a new place for me to tell my friends about.

I was here last Saturday, picked up some beautiful thick planks of walnut at about 1/3 the cost of what I’d pay elsewhere. The lumber needs to be milled before I can really build with it, but in my opinion really worth the extra work, plus, extra bragging rights to say I milled it myself 🙂 Very patient and helpful owners, overall a pleasant and worthwhile trip. I recommend a visit to anyone who wants some awesome Missouri native walnut at a really friendly price.
